Behind The Scenes
Want to put a face to the brand?
Here is a quick peek behind the scenes at 3 Legged Thing Limited - a unique opportunity to take a look at the kind of people we are, and the environment we like to work in...
A typical day in the office will see Sean & Jess working on new ideas and talking to customers, Sarah fielding press enquiries and talking to the media in general, and Danny spends most of his day in his office designing new products, and bouncing ideas for advertising and branding around the office with everyone else. Charlie the excitable Dachshund keeps us all entertained by attempting to murder the postman...
Going the extra mile
There's always music on, and we go to great lengths to ensure that the "details" match the products. Did you know that our hold music was mixed on site by Danny and Sean, and that it is made up of two samples and a song: "3 Is A Magic Number" by Bob Dorough, "A Number of Microphones" by Propellerheads and "Echo & Bounce", also a Propellerheads Track. We think being funky is something to be proud of, which is why we have gone so far with our artwork and branding. ALL of the artwork, CNC and CAD designs are done on site in Stagsden - on any given day you'll find at least one of us working on some kind of design.

Inspirations
We taken inspiration from each other, as well as from the world around us. Working in one of the most beautiful villages in all of England is defintely inspirational, but we also find ourselves inspired by movies and music.
Movies inspire you?
Yes! Take a look at our brand artwork. The four pieces of art were ALL inspired by movies. The London Scene is our take on War Of The Worlds, the New York Scene is taken from King Kong, the Gotham Scene is our very own Ball Head Batman and the Space Scene was inspired by the movie Apollo 13.
Music Inspires you?
The New Rock Legend Range of Tripods, Monopods and Multipods was inspired by the music of guitar legends from England and the United States. Each product was named for the artist that was playing in our design room when the concept was first put to paper.
X1 Brian - The concept of the triple section central column, the part we believe to make this the most significant advancement in tripod technology in recent history, was dreamed up by the team during some much needed downtime. The eureka moment occurred while listening to Brian May's solo on Queen's "I Want To Break Free", without doubt the single worst guitar solo ever committed to tape.
X2 Eddie - Eddie was our first vision - a solid, sturdy tripod that could take any camera, yet is small and light enough to carry around. During one of our first concept brainstorming sessions we had the Eddie Van Halen album, 5150 playing in the office, and it was this, more than anything that gave us the idea for the Rock Legend Range. Eddie will always be special to us, like a first child...
X3 Jimmy - You may have noticed on a few of our videos that the works of Led Zeppelin are ever present. Rarely does a day pass in the office when Led Zeppelin II, Physical Graffiti or Mothership are not played in the offices. Kashmir features on a lot of our videos, and as our flagship product what better way can declare that we are proud to be British, than to name him for an English Legend, Jimmy Page.
X1a Adrian - Named for the iconic rock god, Adrian Smith, from British metal outfit, and leaders of the NWOBHM (new wave of british heavy metal) Iron Maiden. Adrian is, to all intents and purposes and alloy version of the 3LT X1 Brian.
X2a Kirk - Taken from the brilliant guitar soloist from Metallica, Kirk Hammet can often be heard in the offices of 3 Legged Thing. Some of the best tunes including "One" and "Nothing Else Matters" are pencilled in to feature on our videos.
X4 Eric - Named after the legend that is Eric Clapton. The X4 is our first 2nd Generation Product, and also our first tripod NOT designed for travel portability, but for stability. Constructed with our Stealth Carbon Fiber TM.
We are always inspired by other companies, especially those that make quality gear...
