3LT Shortlisted in the 2018 Lucie Technical Awards
Following on from a win last year for our Professional Travel Tripod, Leo in the Best Tripod category, we’re incredibly excited to learn that three of our products have been shortlisted for 2018’s Lucie Technical Awards.
Our Punks carbon fibre general use tripod, Billy, and our Punks carbon fibre travel tripod, Brian, have both been included in the shortlist for Best Tripod. Our new Professional Carbon Fibre monopod, Alan, with Docz rugged foot stabiliser, has been recognised in the Best Industrial Design category.
Billy and Brian share some characteristics – both use eight layers of 100% pure carbon fibre for the legs and column, with precision engineered head, canopy and leg locks formed from aircraft grade magnesium alloy. Both have removable/reversible centre columns, a detachable monopod leg, and three optimal leg angles, allowing photographers to shoot from different perspectives.
Billy, with 4 section legs, and a single section column, is an ideal tripod for a broad range of photographic applications, and supports up to 18 kg /40 lb of camera gear. Brian, is designed for travel, with 5 section legs and a 2 section centre column, enabling it to be folded to just 41cm long, yet extends to 1.87 metres tall at full height.
Alan is an incredibly strong, professional, carbon fibre monopod; supporting up to 60 kg /132 lb of camera gear. It also features 3 Legged Thing’s patented Tri-Mount plate for the attachment of accessories, with an integrated spring-loaded dual 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 camera mounting screw. Alan is available in a kit with 3 Legged Thing’s foot stabiliser for monopods, Docz. Docz has a rugged alloy base, a precision-engineered ball for smooth movement, and a dual purpose rubber foot on the base, which not only supports the centre of Docz, but also acts as a tension adjuster for the ball.
Winners of the 2018 Lucie Technical Awards will be announced in New York on 25th October 2018.
