Ask Neil: 3 Legged Thing AirHeds

The current range of 3 Legged Thing ball heads includes 4 models which are designed with specific functions in mind depending on your photography style.

So which ball head is best for you? Hopefully this article will help you decide. Let’s have a look at the range of ballheads in the 3 Legged Thing catalogue, to help you decide on the best option for you.

AirHed Mini

The AirHed Mini is the first in our range and is only available when you buy our very own Punks or Punks Anarchy Patti.

The Mini has 2 control knobs. One knob on the clamp to lock and release the Arca-Swiss plate, and a larger combination knob that controls the pan and the ball position.

AirHed Neo

The Neo is a compact AirHed and packs a powerful punch with a top-down load capacity of 18kg. This comes as standard with our PUNKS twist lock tripods.

The Neo has 3 control knobs. One for the pan base, one for the clamp release and 1 for the ball position. If you’re looking for a step up from our AirHed Mini, this is the one for you.

  • The AirHed Neo is available on its own or comes with Punks Corey, Travis, Billy, and Brian.

AirHed Switch

The Switch is an AirHed which pairs ultimate strength and stability with a beautiful design. Its load capability of 160kg will withstand and support a huge amount of weight and pressure.

The lever clamp is what makes the AirHed Switch stand out from the crowd, making it possible to quickly attach and remove your camera, and can be modified for right-handed or left-handed use.

  • The AirHed Switch is available on its own or as a kit with Leo.

AirHed 360

The AirHed 360 is the ultimate ballhead that has a tested top-down capability of 200kg.

A panoramic clamp is what makes the 360 stand out, meaning that at times when you’re not able to create precision levelling from uneven ground or rocky terrain you can level the 360 Clamp and use this to create your perfect panorama.

  • The AirHed 360 is available on its own or in a kit with Albert or Winston.

Our load capability is tested without tripods legs. When in use with a tripod, the weight capability is dictated by what the legs can hold. All of our AirHeds are available in blue or grey/black.

I hope that’s given you a break-down of the 3 Legged Thing AirHeds on offer, and will help you choose which may be the best option for you.
