Pro Team: Tina Eisen
Our Pro Team are a fantastic group of talented photographers, many of whom have used 3 Legged Thing tripods and accessories for several years. Over the coming months, we will be introducing you to the different members of the team, using short Q&As to give you some insight into how they work, what equipment they use, and how they became professional photographers.
Next in the series is Tina Eisen, a German fashion, beauty and editorial photographer, based in the UK.
What is your earliest memory of handling a camera?
“In 2008 I picked myself a camera on EBay, second hand, 600D… the only thing I knew about cameras was the name “Canon”… I had heard of that before! Zero clue what Aperture, Shutterspeed or ISO was. Still, I never dialed to Manual and braved horrible picture after horrible picture before I eventually figured out which button does what.”
Was there a single event that made you decide to become a professional photographer?
“In the beginning photography was a hobby to keep my mind busy and creative, I had no intention to ever make it a job. One day I shot a local girl, just for practise. Her response was incredible for me. She was stunned how lovely she looked in the images, how I had transformed her and given her confidence. This feeling forever motivated me to make people feel like this on a larger scale.”
What is your favourite location to capture?
“I’m a studio kinda girl, but I have been taking my shoots on location more lately. I love anything that adds texture to my shots, brick walls, messy wallpaper, even mould and debris. I love mixing beauty with dirt!”
Social media – love it or hate it?
“Social media is one of the most powerful marketing tools we have at our fingertips. We can reach potential clients on a global scale, for free (apart from investing our time) as well as being surrounded by priceless inspiration from those we aspire to be like. Our work is visual art, so let’s show it off!”
Favourite camera you have ever used or owned, and why?
“I’m a proud mumma of the Canon 5D Mark IV, perfect for the work I create and the touch screen display makes adjustments a breeze, when you’re as impatient as me!”
Name 5 essential items in your photography bag.
“Apart from a camera I guess haha! I don’t leave the house without spare trigger batteries, bulldog clips, safety pins (that baggy clothing!), Tether Tools jerk stopper (I jerk a lot) and foldable reflectors… I’m ready to light a shoot with handheld reflectors alone!” 😉
How would you describe your style of photography?
“Forever trying to be unique while catering to the masses. Oh and flowers.”
What is one question you’d like to be asked and never have been?
“If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be doing? Any guesses ??” 🙂
