British Innovative Tripod Systems
Serious pieces of kit.
Since 2010, our goal has been to make the most technologically advanced camera support systems on the planet.

A bit of a story
3 Legged Thing was founded by Danny Lenihan back in 2010.
It all started in a Chicken Shed, in Stagsden, England, where we're still based. Working as a photographer, and frustrated by the tripod choices available, Danny decided to innovate and create something new, based on classic British design and engineering principles.

Over the years we have commissioned artwork to illustrate our tripods, and to adorn our product packaging. Created by several very talented artists, we've gathered some of that artwork together here, for your enjoyment.
We design and engineer all of our products in the United Kingdom, and seek ways to innovate in order to create products that photographers love and want to use in their daily workflows. Follow the link to learn more.

from 622 reviewsThe Zooey QD is AMAZING! It fits the Z8 like a glove. Brilliant design, beautiful engineering, Arca-Swiss compatible for thecwonderful 3LT tripods, and the receiver for the new QD straps!
It's not cheap, but worth every penny.
Easy to switch to portrait orientation and looks good too. Well engineered piece of kit so well pleased!
Yes, I am confident almost all of us read reviews, weigh price versus features and anticipate usefulness over time for what we purchase. I even tried to save some time in recruiting ChatGPT to dive deep and select me the top three highest rated tripods for a pro quality camera and long range zoom lens to have a quality tripod as I plan ahead. I had only chuckled at ThreeLegged Thing in the past but I am not chuckling any more! This thing is STRONG! Rock solid. I was joking with a friend that Winston can hold up the corner of my house if it was needed! Teamed with the lever release bubble head it all fits nicely into the case. I look forward to a nice clear night to photograph the moon soon. Thanks for an amazing product. Jim Beswetherick from Michigan USA across the pond.
I bought the 300mm in black. I could just hold it, stroke it and marvel at how well made it is. There are so many ways to use it. Very clever.
I was fortunate to be gifted a pair of Binoculars that I wanted to use for Stargazing. Trent is tall enough that I can get my lanky carcass under it, and it stabilises my binoculars a lot better than my stick arms.
From the moment you open the box you know it is made of serious stuff. I have had the odd selfie stick from Amazon and this is a different beast altogether. I can see this lasting for decades. We should be buying better and buying less, so for the sake of the planet get yourself one of these.
I spent days tring to find a quality head to replace the regretable one which arrived with a tripod. It needed to bear up 12.5 lbs and still maneouver smoothly and professionally. Due to the positioning of locking knobs the handle easily works from either side without obstructing control. The highly visible plate locking knob is a real plus, since most of the work will be in low light and the ability to see things is an abstolute need. Why do people always make things black?!? Worth it at twice the price.
Was looking for a tripod to replace a reliable but heavy Redsnapper aluminium tripod. Was somewhat sceptical that something which weighed nearly 0.5kg less could be as solidly built, but a photography contact of mine had one and said they were great so I bit the bullet and tried it.
So far, really impressed. The 0.5kg less makes a real difference when walking to location and it feels just as steady under load. It's also impressively tall given how small it folds up.
No current worries about durability either as it seems very well put together.
All in all, a great travel / all round tripod hybrid
I added a LevelHed between my AirHed Neo 2 and my beloved Punks Billy 2 and what a difference it has made. I now set the ball head to where I think it needs to be - very quickly - and then can fine-tune the level using the LevelHed at any time. Perfect for both landscapes and macro work. Being able to just tweak the setup is amazing and makes a huge difference. If you haven't bought one, you should!
I replaced the screw clamp of my Airhed Neo 2 on my beloved Punks Billy 2 to make it even better. It was a joy to use before and it's now brilliant!
I added a Mini to Docz to make a super-strong and stable tabletop tripod for indoor or outdoor macro photography. It's just perfect.
I replace the centre column in my Punks Billy 2 when doing low-level outdoor macro. It's so well made and a joy to use. It works brilliantly with Docz as a tabletop, too!!
Love this well engineered L-bracket for my Canon Camera, wish I had bought this years ago. The bracket makes it easy to change the position between Landscape and Portrait setup.
I got mine with my beloved Punks Billy 2. I've since enhanced it with a lever clamp. It's a smooth and easy, but very sturdy tripod head. Brilliant!
So well made, beyond sturdy. I'm sure it's great with a monopod, but I use mine as a tabletop tripod, or a light stand as my LED can mount on it directly. It comes into its own with an Airhed Mini to make a great low-level tripod for macro.
A fantastic tripod, light, compact, fabulous design and engineering. It is so good, I just love using it.
